Aquathlon - Michael Fabes 2nd to world champion!

Post date: May 8, 2013 9:32:23 PM

Michael swims and runs in the Open Water Swim series Aquathlons at Datchet, which consists of a 750m swim and a 5km run. The first of this year’s series of 6 events was on Saturday. He got his best ever result of 2nd overall. Richard Stannard (ex-world champion) won the race, however, he organises it, so he doesn’t count in terms of the results. The water was so cold Michael couldn’t get his shoes on, so lost time in the transition, which is included in the swim time. This cost him about 30 seconds as he came in just behind Richard Stannard on the swim. He also won £15 of triathlon kit vouchers!

Richard also suggested that he enter the British Biathle champs in Salford in August (another type of swim-run-swim competition). There’s also a regional event in Weymouth in July.
