Open Water Swimming Try-Out Triumph!

posted 24 Jun 2015, 13:37 by Didcot Barramundi   [ updated 24 Jun 2015, 14:05 ]
Lots of our younger swimmers were able to take part in a try-out session of Open Water Swimming on Monday evening (22 Jun 2015), thanks to the generous sponsorship we received this year that has enabled us to purchase wetsuits that can now be hired from the club.

Angus Whitfield ran a coaching session, ably assisted by Nancy Mew, Daniel Mason and Claire Newell in the water and several parent 'spotters' on the bank.  It was a first chance for most of our younger ones to try-out wearing competition wetsuits and get used to swimming in a lake and it was a highly enjoyable and successful event.  Check them getting underway here.

Everyone seems to be eager to have another go, and many will be putting themselves forward for the South East Region Open Water Championships later in the Summer.  (Deadline for entries is 27 June for those interested).

Thanks to all those who helped run the session and to all those taking part.

(Does look a bit chilly at the end!)
